Lillian's Birth Story

So I just realized that I never shared Lillian's Birth Story.  First off, here is Timothy's birth story, if you want to see the difference. Not that it was all that incredible different since both births were easy going and trouble free.

Lillian was due Dec 25.  The 25 went by and the 26th went by, which was discouraging since Timothy was only one day late.  Well, I went to bed and woke up around 3 am on the 27th with contractions. Having gotten to the hospital a little too fast with Timothy, I lied and bed and watch the clock for a half an hour of so and then woke up Greg and we headed to the hospital. I got all checked into triage and I was at 6cm. I was definitely far enough along with labor to be admitted.  I didn't get an epideral; since I had Timothy without an epideral I knew I could do it again. I hung out in the shower for a little while to manage pain. Eventually I asked for a little bit of IV drugs, only because I kept tensing up my back with  every contraction and I want something to help me relax. Eventually the on call doctor came in to check up on me, but he was only on call for another hour, before a different doctor came on.  When she came in around 8am I was around 8 cm. She told me that she had a scheduled c-section with another patient. She let me know that when she came back I  would need to decide if I wanted her to break my water, if it didn't break on it's own. It didn't. When the doctor came back I was at about 9cm so we decided to break my water. Because I pushed Timothy out so fast the were afraid that I would be ready to push and delivery as soon as they broke my water. The got the room all set up for delivery before they broke my water.   All breaking my water did was make the contractions worse. (On a side note: I was having full blown conversations with the doctor at this point. She was very impressed because I was at 9cm and didn't have an epideral. That's not normal. Most people don't have it that together at 9cm with no pain killers) The doctor decided to hang out in the hall way. She didn't want to go to far just in case I  needed to push. (Remember the doctor was only a few minutes away when they called her to deliver Timothy and didn't make it in time)  I kept getting a small desire to push so we would call in the nurse. She would check me and tell my I wasn't ready. After a few times of that she would have me do a small push while she checked me to see what happened. About the fourth or fifth time we did that Lillian dropped. The nurse screamed for the doctor. The doctor came in and Lillian came out with basically one big push. It was only a couple more minutes before I delivered the placenta. Everything seriously went faster this time around. I needed stitched up too, since I tore where I tore the first time around.

Lillian was born on Dec 27, and 9:24 am. Only about 7 hours of labor. That was significantly faster than the 16 hours of labor with Timothy. She weight 7lb 10oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. She was perfectly healthy, no problems transitioning like her brother and she took to nursing like a champ.

Timothy came with Grammy and Pappy to visit his little sister.  He was more interested in seeing me at the hospital than his little sister.  Greg, baby and I stay at the hospital for the night and went home the next day.

There you have it. Lilly's birth story. Nothing too exciting happened. I do have to say that labor was a little more painful and intense this time around, but it went so much faster so I imagine each contraction was more productive this time around. It only makes sense that they would more painful and uncomfortable.  After I had Timothy they offered me Vicadin and I declined because the only experience I've had with vicodin is that it makes me throw up. So they gave me Ibuprofen and was fine. This time around I just opted for the ibuprofen too. Aparently I was in a lot more pain that I realized, because when the nurse came around to help me get out of bed the first time and use the restroom. I started shivering, a lot. She figured it was one of my bodies ways of dealing with pain so she went and got me some super tylenol or something like that to take in addition to the ibuprofen. After that I was just fine with only ibuprofen.

Lillian May Blessing Day

We were able to do Lillian's blessing at church the beginning of February. Here are some pictures of her in her little white dress.

Lillian May Picture Overload

Having Lilly has been really nice for Etsy orders. I have been able to use her as little model to get good pictures of the items I crochet. It's nice to have pictures that are better than just the hat sitting on the table. Recently she modeled a newsboy hat and tie and a little turtle prop

This little girl has started smiling. She loves smiling a lot.

Tummy time

Lillian May - 2 Months

Lilly turned two months on Feb 27. She just happened go in for her two month check up the same day.

Now I never shared her one month stats her so I am going to put those up first
Height: 22 inches 88%
Weight: 9 lb 5oz 46%
Head circumference: 14 1/4 inches 47%

What the heck? She thinks she is supposed to be tall or something.  Well, lets compare with her two month stats.
Head Circumference: 14 3/4 inches 32%
Weight: 10 lb 9 oz 36%
Height 22 1/4 inches 45%
Well, seems a little more normal for our family.

I also took a few pictures of her for her two month birthday.

California State Railroad Museum

It was time to take my Jewelry in for that cleaning you have to do every 6 months. We'll the closest Shane Co is in Sacramento. Because the drive to Sacramento is about two and a half hours we usually find something fun to do while we are there. This time around we decided we would take Timmy to the California  State Railroad Museum.  Normally we drive out on a Saturday Morning spend the day there and drive back that night. This time we decided that the trip would be more fun and less stressful if we left on Friday and stayed the night in a hotel and came back Saturday. It was a great plan. Unfortunately, this trip was not stress free. We got checked into the hotel and then stopped at the jewelry store and ate a late lunch. We hung out in the hotel Friday Night. Greg read a book, I read a book. We got Timmy set up on the little couch in hotel to sleep and then we climbed into the big King Size bed with Lilly.  Now the stress begins Timmy fell of the couch around midnight so I let him come sleep in the bed with us. I went to use the restroom and discovered the toilet was backed up. I went to the front desk to tell them and there was one very stressed out guy working trying to deal with a huge last minute college group that was in town for a Quidditch (yes, quidditch) tournament. There weren't any maintenance workers around since it was midnight and the front desk didn't have a plunger availabe. The best he could do was try and get a hold of a maintenace worker. So I went back to bed ignoring the bathroom situation. Well, a couple of hours later I was woken up by a startled Lilly. She was getting puked on by Timmy. Timmy puked all over her and the bed. Nice.  I gave him a bath and Greg gave Lilly bath. Then Greg went to the front desk to try and get new sheets and remind them we still couldn't use our toilet. Since the front desk couldn't give us extra sheets  thanks to the quidditch tournament and still couldn't fix the toilet the decided to move us to a new room. So we packed up our bags and switched hotel rooms in the middle of the night. This new room was so nice.It was right next to the elevator and was huge It had two king sized beds, because there was a second room inside the room. Greg slept in one with Lilly and we through some towels on the other bed and cuddle up with Timmy whose tummy was still not feeling better.  In the morning went and got out continental breakfast and then checked out of the hotel. Timmy was feeling better so we dedided it would still be okay to go to the museum. We were glad we did. Timmy had a blast in choo choo heaven. We got to explore some train cars and they even had a set up of toy trains for the kiddles to play with.

All set up in the first hotel room

It's a good thing it was king size bed

The Second hotel room. you can see there is a second room attached to the room.

The California State Railroad Museum
They had an amazing Lionel Electric Train set up.
The museum was in Old Sacramento so there were a few horse draw carriages roaming the streets
Back home playing with his new (and old trains)
